  • VIRUS takes a road trip to the Rahlves' Banzai Tour

The VIRUS crew loaded up the truck with boards, skis, product, and all the accentual needs and hit the road to South Lake Tahoe this past weekend for round two of the Rahlves' Banzai Tour. The crew was excited to get to mountains that had good snow on them. With the local mountains in southern California having a bad year, it was time to hit Kirkwood Mountain for some big mountain snow shredding. Saturday Morning VIRUS set up the canopy at the base of the resort with the other sponsors of event, then we hit the hill to get in some awesome runs before checking out the qualifying for the Banzai. The race course started near the top of the wall with some icy conditions then led down to the gully where the course tightened up before leading into the high speed finish. After Saturday qualifying was completed the boarders and skiers cleaned up and headed in to town for the VIRUS, Banzai, Red Bull after party held in the Mont Bleu Casino Opal Ultra Lounge. Many racers, industry, sponsors, and general public alike turned out for the event. Opal Ultra Lounge's Ted Johanson went above and beyond to make this a great event for the Banzai athletes and the sponsors.

Sunday morning the racers were ready for head to head racing. The course was prime for some great action in both ski and snowboard events and they didn't disappoint! The racers bombed the hill with scary speed over ice, bumps, rocks, and chalky snow conditions. In the Women's snowboard Audrey Hebert cruised to the win and in the women's ski Shelly Robertson took the win. In the Men snowboard final the finish was an exciting one and caused a little controversy one. Lucas Dehmlow had the lead with a charging Bobby Minghini behind him going into the finish line, then disaster struck as Minghini connected with Dehmlow taking them both down. The race officials made the right call of Disqualifying Minghini and giving the win to Dehmlow after watching the video multiply times of the crash. You can see the video of the finish at the bottom of the page. In the men ski final Kyle Coxon took the win with Tyler wallasch second and VIRUS supported athlete Jesse Maddex in third.

The event went off and VIRUS is proud to be a sponsor of the RAHLVES' BANZAI TOUR! The Final round is this weekend at Sugar Bowl Resort in north Lake Tahoe. If you are in the area check it out!!

Thank you to Eric Rasmussen for taking the great photos of the VIRUS weekend in Tahoe.

  • Christian Brothers racing wraps up 2014-2015 season at Lake Geneva snowcross

VIRUS affiliate Christian Brothers Racing was looking to finish strong in season points, and entered the final event on the snocross national calendar this past March 13-15 in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. The event was held on the slopes of the Grand Geneva Resort's Mountain Top ski area and is perhaps the most anticipated event on the schedule. A three-race format for Pro Open riders, the team was busy all weekend trying to secure as many points as possible in this final event.

Set solidly in the Top 5, Logan Christian entered the weekend determined to secure his season points. The first night of racing didn't go as had hoped with Christian finishing in 12th. However, on Saturday Christian came out swinging and brought home a 5th place finish. He followed the up on Sunday with a 6th place finish. Christian ended the season 5th place overall in points on the ISOC National Championship Snocross Series.
"This was my best race weekend ever at Lake Geneva," said Christian. "Then I capped my season off with a Top 5 points finish which made it even better. I have to thank the team, crew and sponsors for making it such a great season. I'll be working hard to get ready for next season."

Dave Joanis was looking to carry momentum from his Canadian sweep the weekend prior. Joanis scored a best finish of 7th on the weekend and finished in 7th place in season points.
"I'm happy to finish up the season in 7th place," said Joanis. "There was no room for error at Lake Geneva and things went well, we got some good finishes. I can't thank the Christian Brothers Racing team and crew enough for their support this season."

Pro Lite riders only faced two finals in Lake Geneva, but the competition was tough and Tyler Adams fought to a best finish of 8th place on the weekend. The rookie Pro Lite rider finished 7th place in season points.
"Lake Geneva was tough, but a lot of fun," said Adams. "With 1 win and three podiums, I couldn't have asked for a better rookie Pro Lite season. I have to thank Christian Brothers Racing, my parents and my mechanic Mike for everything they did for me this season."

The Christian Brothers Racing team is ready to build on their successful year and they are excited to get to work for the 2015/2016 season. CBR athletes will be getting the most out of their training this summer using the array of VIRUS performance products to help with their fitness and recovery programs. VIRUS looks forward to seeing the CBR team continue their success for the 2015/2016 season and we are excited to be part of such a great team that gives back so much to the sport.

Virus was pleased to provide Compression and Workout gear for the thriving athletes of The Wadapalooza.

The V-Team athletes who participated in L-Sits, Wall Balls, and a 300m swim, profited by using the H201 Airprene Aquatic Tech Shorts; these shorts allowed the athletes to move freely on land AND in water, which resulted in some of the fastest times of the competition. DAVI MILSAPPS

VIRUS was on hand for another weekend of great racing at the fourth round of the supercross series in Anaheim California. This week saw an old school style of supercross track with lots of jumps, rhythm sections, and tight turns. The track design led to some great racing and the fans were not disappointed.

    INTENSE RACE ACTION

Number 17, Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha’s Cooper Webb wasn’t too stoked after racing into the lead and pulling away only to have the red flag come out on lap six and stop the race. The red flag was due to a gate malfunction that held up Zach Osborne, but race officials decided to do a complete restart. Webb was able to channel his anger and on the restart, took over the lead from Troy Lee Designs/ Lucas Oil/ Red Bull/ KTM’s Jessy Nelson just past halfway mark of the race and pulled away to a solid 3.650-second victory over Nelson. Webb’s teammate Aaron Plessinger took third, marking his first career 250 Supercross podium.

THE WINNING MACHINE IN THE 250 CLASS

Ryan Dungy came into the weekend with the points lead and the red leader’s plate, but he had not won a race yet. He wanted to prove that he deserves the red plate, so he went out and got the fastest qualifying time of the day. Then he went on to dominate the field in front of 43,441 fans, not only scoring his first win since the Indy Supercross last season, but also building on his series lead, which is now up to 11 points (107-96) over RCH Soaring Eagle/Jimmy Johns Suzuki’s Ken Roczen. Dungey led 19 of the 20-lap main and was 2.361 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Team Honda’s Cole Seely at the checkered flag. GEICO Honda’s Eli Tomac passed Roczen on the last lap to get the final podium position.

ELI TOMAC NAILED DOWN THIRD ON THE LAST LAP
Vteam riders had a rough night with the exception of Davi Millsaps winning his semi heat. Millsaps is fighting an illness, so it is making it difficult for him to go 20 laps. Millsaps finish a respectable 11th place finish and Team Tedder’s Jake Weimer finished 15th in the main event.
Both riders will be looking to improve on their finishes this week at round 5 of the series in San Diego, California. Check back next week to see what happened.
